It’s hard to observe the many conflicts and ignore when people are suffering. We are all naturally sensitive to certain subjects and personally, I sometimes can’t seem to be able to keep going with my life and enjoy the same way I normally do!
So, I’ve been wondering: how can we access joy when things get tough and/or when the world seems to be going crazy?
As I was listening to Brené Brown’s podcast “Unlocking Us”, I found this episode with Karen Walrond on accessing joy and finding connection in the midst of struggle. I realized I wasn't alone to feel this way. Karen said something that really resonated with me: “If we feel guilt about joy (which is one of the main purposes of life), then the bad guys win!”
That is so true! If we stop experiencing joy, we stop living our life. And joy is how we develop resiliency. I personally loved the 3 questions she recommended you ask yourself when facing tough situations:
- How can I feel healthy?
- How can I feel connected?
- How can I feel purposeful?
What a great reminder of what matters most!
